Trying Hello Fresh
I'm no stranger to at home meal kits. I've tried Blue Apron before and I loved it so I was excited to try Hello Fresh but I couldn't justify the high price. But one day I was browsing Facebook and an ad popped up for 50% off your first order and I couldn't resist. So I placed an order and waited eagerly for the shipment to be delivered.
So first off, I will say that all three meals I made for the week were delicious. They were all easy to make and the directions were straightforward. Something I found out later is Hello Fresh keeps an online archive of all their recipes on their website so I can see what other meal options there are and see them in detail before ordering. You could also browse the recipes and make the other meals without ordering them too.
I particularly enjoyed the Greek Diner Burgers with the Feta Salad on the side.
I think this was the best recipe out of the three due to how unique it was. It was a meal I wouldn't have come up with on my own, which is exactly what I want out of a meal delivery service like this.
So although every recipe was absolutely delicious, my one critique is the fact that two of the three recipes weren't really all that unique. The honey glazed pork with vegetables on the side was good, but it's similar to the kind of thing my boyfriend cooks regularly. The Fajitas were also good, but to me it felt like a pretty standard kind of meal.
My only criticism is relevant to my life because my boyfriend is such a brilliant cook and I'm used to eating really well on a regular basis. Although I do stand by my point to a degree, I'll counter it by saying this is perfect for novice cooks. If you don't know many recipes yet, this is a really fun way to learn. They send all the ingredients pre-measured and organized so preparation is really minimal. You do get to pick out your recipes online before they're sent so you can choose what you want and they do have vegetarian options too.
Overall, I'd give Hello Fresh an 8/10. I don't have a coupon code for you but there are hundreds out there you can probably find if you're interested.
